Biography
Holly Surbaugh serves as an Undergraduate Engagement Librarian in the library’s Learning, Research, and Engagement department. Her primary focus is teaching information literacy and foundational research skills, as well as connecting undergraduate students with the library through innovative outreach programs and events. Her research agenda concentrates on responding to higher education trends by discovering actionable insights for practitioners in academic libraries.
Before coming to UNM, Holly worked as a science librarian at Georgetown University and as both a research analyst and a data, information, and knowledge management consultant with Abt Associates. Her consultant work involved helping government and non-profit clients confront complex challenges related to managing science data. Previously, she held positions at Fairfax County Public Library and Mid-Continent Public Library in Kansas City.
She earned a master’s degree in library science from the University of Maryland’s iSchool and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She also completed a certificate program in Curation and Management of Digital Assets.
