Biography

Margie Montanez, Ph.D. joined University Libraries as our Council on Library and Information Resources post doctoral fellow (CLIR) in data curation and Latin American, Chicano and Caribbean studies. Montanez will work with the Digital Initiatives and Scholarly Communication (DISC) department, Research and Data Services (RDS), and in the Center for Southwest Research and Special Collections (CSWR) on a number of digital projects for the next two years. She has worked for University Libraries CSWR previously so is well-informed on the scope of our collections. Her dissertation, completed in 2017, develops a trope of an ethnographic aesthetic to dissect the cultural production of Jovita González, Américo Paredes, and more recent works by Alicia Gaspar de Alba and Lourdes Portillo. CLIR is an independent, non-profit organization that forges strategies to enhance research, teaching, and learning environments in collaboration with libraries, cultural institutions, and communities of higher learning.
