Biography

Dr. Patricia Boverie's teaching concentrates on transformational learning, adult learning theory, organization development, and consulting theory and practice.

Dr. Boverie is  Professor and Chair of the Organization Information and Learning Sciences Program at the University of New Mexico. She has been teaching, speaking, and helping organizations increase motivation for over 30 years. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, Patricia taught in the Psychology Department at Central Washington University where she directed a Masters program in Organizational Development. She has completed post-doctoral work at University of British Columbia and Harvard University.  Patricia came to UNM in 1990.  Patricia’s areas of expertise are in the fields of individual, team, and organizational learning; work motivation; and applications of positive psychology at work. Patricia’s research interests include the development of passion in the workplace, adult learning, transformational learning, and leadership development through mentoring. She has co-authored the book, Transforming Work: The Five Keys to Achieving Trust, Commitment, and Passion in the Workplace, with Michael Kroth. This book has been translated into various other languages.  She has over 40 publications and has made over 60 international and national presentations. 

Dr. Boverie keeps busy teaching and mentoring graduate students, giving presentations on passionate work, taking and teaching ballet classes, volunteering in the community, and spending time with her husband and beautiful children. She received her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, taught in the Psychology Department of Central Washington University where Dr. Boverie co-directed a masters program in Organization Development, and completed post-doctoral work at the University of British Columbia and Harvard University.
