Dr. Mark Emmons is the Associate Dean of Public Services and a Professor of Librarianship. He is responsible for all aspects of the library that support student and faculty learning and research. Public Services include access services, outreach, instruction, reference, research data, collections, interlibrary loan, government information, maps, and Latin American collections. Emmons' scholarly interests are on the impact academic libraries have upon student success and resources for film research.
He has over twenty five years of professional experience as an academic librarian, working at Occidental College before accepting a faculty position at UNM. Before serving as Associate Dean, he had various roles in charge of instruction, assessment, and public services, and has provided library instruction and research assistance and built collections in the subjects of education, arts, humanities, romance languages, communication studies, and film. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and his Master of Library Science at the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Doctor of Education at the University of New Mexico.
