Fran Wilkinson

Dr. Frances C. Wilkinson is the Senior Associate Dean and a Professor of Librarianship. She is responsible for Administrative Services including budget and cost management, human resources, facilities, information technology, assessment, and marketing. She also oversees technical services and the LIBROS consortium. She is the Administrative Director of the Organization, Information, & Learning Sciences program where she teaches organizational leadership, qualitative research methods, adult learning theory, and organizational development and consulting.

She has over twenty years of professional experience as an academic librarian. She received her Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in Communication, her Master of Public Administration, and her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of New Mexico. She received her Master of Library Science from the University of Arizona. A member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and a past president and treasurer of the UNM chapter, she is also a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha (Public Administration) and Pi Lambda Theta (Education) Academic Honor Societies.

She is the author of seven books and over fifty articles, chapters, columns, and reports. She also leads workshops and webinars and conducts presentations nationally and internationally. Her research and consulting interests include leadership, management, organizational development, competitive procurement, disaster preparedness and recovery, acquisitions, and computer ergonomics.

Fran is a member of the American Library Association and New Mexico Library Association where she has served on numerous committees as well as NASIG, where she previously served as an at-large Board member. She is currently the chair of the Faculty Senate Business Council and of the Faculty and Staff Benefits Committee, and has served on numerous other Faculty Senate committees. She also serves on UNM's VEBA committee. In addition, she is a mediator for the UNM Ombuds/Dispute Resolution Services.
