Cindy joined the Libraries in July 2014 as Director of Access Services & Undergraduate Engagement. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Earlham College, and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Indiana University with additional graduate work at the IU School of Journalism. Before coming to UNM, Cindy served as Head of Reference & Research Services at New Mexico State University and in a variety of public services positions at the University of Kansas Libraries.
Cindy leads Access Services, which includes the areas of circulation, reserves, collection maintenance, interlibrary loan/document delivery, and information services. She supervises and supports the development of Access Services staff (32 staff, 100+ students), who manage and provide services at UNM’s four main campus libraries and via the Libraries’ virtual service desk. This team also works with other Libraries staff and UNM partners to develop and strengthen services for undergraduate students.
Cindy has been active with the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), the Library Administration and Management Association (LLAMA), and the Reference & User Services Association (RUSA). She currently works with the LLAMA SASS/RUSA STARS Consortial Borrowing Joint Committee. Within the University Libraries, Cindy serves on the Public Services leadership group, the Collection Advisory Committee, the Assessment Working Group, the Steering Committee for Collections Space, and the Reference Services & Buildings Team.
